This is the first of two free electives for undergraduates in the degrees of Accounting and Finance or Labour Relations and Human Resources, and it can also serve as introduction for students of Business or Economics. It aims at consolidating English-language skills when dealing within an economic/financial context. Students must already have a basic grasp of the language (CEFR A2) as they progress to a pre-intermediate level (CEFR B1) with specialised language.

Main goals:

  • To develop grammatical, lexical and pragmatic skills to B1 level within a business context.
  • To understand language and vocabulary used within the context of accounting and finance in English
  • To read and understand specilised texts on business topics, being able to summarise, reference and analyse textual data.
  • To use formal and informal registers, and observe politeness when speaking and writing within a business context.
  • To communicate in English to perform tasks requiring an exchange of information while observing cultural norms.
  • To use communicative strategies to support your ideas, explain, give further information, express opinion, arrange plans, apologise and promote a product in English.
  • To manage different sources of information to create your own texts in English.
  • To organise and structure business documents in English using discourse markers and adopting adequate formats for an English-speaking readership.
  • To produce texts and documents of common use in business, accounting or finance contexts, such as commercial correspondence, business documents, datasheets, reports or projects

La Asignatura Inglés para Fines Específicos de la Historia del Arte aspira a proporcionar los recursos lingüísticos necesarios para que el alumnado comprenda textos relativos a Historia del Arte en lengua inglesa, se  familiarice con la terminología propia del discurso histórico-artístico y sea capaz de utilizarla con precisión y corrección.

El estudio, explotación y análisis de textos orales y escritos será la base sobre la cual el alumnado construirá su conocimento; estos textos servirán a los alumnos como modelo para crear su propio comentario de una o varias obras y su presentación oral, donde se valorará que el alumnado utilice no sólo las estructuras gramaticales correctas y explicadas en el aula, si no también que la terminología específica haya sido empleada de manera adecuada y natural.
